This build is using a beta version of Xcode and can’t be submitted

I cannot submit new Test Flight builds to external testing. I was able to do it yesterday. I’ve tried with both my Mac Mini & MacBook Air, both running Xcode version: 15.0.1 (15A507).

This build is using a beta version of Xcode and can’t be submitted.
Make sure you’re using the latest version of Xcode or the latest seed
release found on the releases tab in News and Updates

I’ve tried both using Xcode Cloud & manually archiving the builds but no matter what I get the error.

I’ve even deleted and completely reinstalled Xcode with no luck.

  • It seems like a interim issue in Apple Developer Portal. It throws an error while uploading, but i got an email saying that the new build available to test and then I checked TestFlight app there i can see the new version available for testing, Totally Weird and unexpected from Apple.

  • You can use a VM with xcode 15 or xcode 14

This appears to be resolved as of 11:41 EDT, 3 Nov 2023. I just kept reloading the TestFlight page and trying to add testers.

  • I waited it out. It's working just fine now.

To temporarily resolve this issue, you have to downgrade your Xcode version to read

Version 15.0 (15A240d)

  • I tried generating build with Xcode 15 but still getting the error in the TestFlight.

It’s fixed now, try again. I think it was an issue on their side.

  1. You access this URL: https://developer.apple.com/news/releases
  2. Download and install the second Xcode in your mac with this version : Xcode 15.1 beta 2 (15C5042i)
  3. Open Xcode … 15C5042i
  4. Build and upload to your Apple Store Connect.

It’s worked for me.

This does not work. "This build is using a beta version of Xcode and can’t be submitted. Make sure you’re using the latest version of Xcode or the latest seed release found on the releases tab in News and Updates"

Xcode version is a red herring.

I waited an hour and tried again – while downloading 15.0 and 15.1 (beta) to try.

Went back to try again and AppStoreConnect seemed to have a change of hearts, letting me release the app as if nothing happened.

Solution : get a coffee.

Downgrade to version 15.0 (build 15A240d) also worked for me (just to clarify: I had to publish a new build, so the build from 15.0.1 is "stuck in the limbo").

It looks like its possibly an XCode error. I would suggest downgrading and updating when a fix has been added.

As of this reply, it is working fine now. I did not change anything. Just wait.
