In high school, I was a cross-country and track Runner. I was about 140 lbs. My coach would always say I needed to lose at least 10 lbs because most cross-country Runners were very skinny: although I was pretty slim and 5’7″, it just was not enough. A lot of pressure is placed on females of all ages and sizes. We have to learn to love ourselves in the state that we are in each moment. It is okay to strive for your goals, but each day know that you are beautiful.

I was able to maintain that weight up until after I had my first son: at that time, I dropped to 125 lbs and I was skinny, too small if you asked me.

He weighed 7 lbs. About 4yrs later I had his brother who was 8 lbs 14 oz. Between those years, after my first born son, I gained what seemed to be about 10 lbs per year that was also the time I got on birth control and I always felt that had something to do with it. By the time I got pregnant with my second child my pre-pregnancy weight was about 160 – 170.

My biggest weight during that pregnancy was 205. From there, after the years, I went up 220 and I stayed there for quite some years. The weight didn’t look too bad on me, but I always try to stay healthy making sure I exercise and things like that, but it was still hard to lose weight.

I may have neglected my self care during my nursing career while battling anxiety, depression, and burnout.
