As Senior Backend Engineer for The Infatuation, you will contribute to the implementation and iteration of our back end systems. You should be well-versed in touching various parts of a distributed system, as well as have intuition and strong opinions on how to design and improve relationships between systems and technology. You’ll be working cross functionally with engineers, designers, and product managers to execute on our goals. Projects will include backend feature support for our web and mobile clients including search relevance and personalization. We are looking for candidates who are willing to work East Coast hours of 9am-5pm EST.

**Job Responsibilities**

+ Make architecture and software design decisions to guide consistent, reliable delivery of product requirements

+ Develop plans to organize and execute on projects that accomplish technical goals such as upholding the scalability and reliability of our systems

+ Document and iterate on technical designs while keeping communication open between cross-functional stakeholders to serve user facing initiatives

+ Write clean code that will directly contribute to the codebase

+ Actively participate in peer code reviews while upholding a principled and high standard of code quality

+ Collaborate and pair with other developers to meet delivery goals and objectives

**Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills**

+ You have 4+ years of full-time software engineering experience

+ You are a skilled backend engineer with experience writing in a statically typed programming language while upholding best practices, especially Golang

+ Familiarity with scalable production systems using continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code, and monitoring in a cloud environment

+ Demonstrable knowledge of web architecture patterns such as application programing interface (API) design, data pipelines, and event driven design patterns

+ Comfortable working with large datasets and experience with data warehouse and extract/transform/load (ETL) architectures

+ You are empathetic, curious, and pragmatic

+ You are constantly learning and re-evaluating previous assumptions

**Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills**

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science

+ Working knowledge of the technologies such as: Golang, Google Cloud Platform, ElasticSearch, Docker, Datastore, GraphQL, Lucidchart, Confluence, JIRE, and Firebase

+ Experience in a distributed, multi-disciplinary software development team in an Agile environment
