  • Collaborate closely with a team of software engineers to deliver complex software solutions
  • Mentor, coach and collaborate with software engineers
  • Review and refine stories and execute on them using engineering practices
  • Using technical knowledge to analyze technical system problems and design and implement effective solutions
  • Hands-on development and problem resolution, write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews
  • Embrace and model engineering excellence and best practices
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the team
  • Provide periodic production deployments and support
  • Optimizing performance for the applications & web
  • Remaining up to date on the latest industry trends in commercial insurance and digital technologies
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 100%

Qualifications

The position requires a Bachelor s degree, or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation. Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:

  • Ability to develop on multiple platforms, such as AWS, or a related technology
  • IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies such as Agile, Continuous Improvement/Continuous Delivery, or a related technology
  • Ability to develop with functions, such as SNS, SQS, RDS, S3, Lambda, or a related technology
  • RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies such as mySQL, PostgreSQL, mongo DB, Dynamo DB, or a related technology
  • Bitbucket and Bamboo, such as Build/Deploy plans or a related technology
  • Multiple programming languages and tools such as Kotlin, Java, Spring Framework, JavaScript, React, Redux, Node.js, GraphQL, or a related technology
  • Demonstrable experience with technologies such as AWS, Java, Python, JavaScript (NodeJS, Angular, React), Spring Boot, Docker, Microservices, Kubernetes, or GIT
  • Integration with and management of APIs exposing microservices such as REST, SOAP, or a related technology
  • Demonstrable experience of Cloud-based distributed, event driven application architecture
  • Agile software development concepts and processes such as SAFe, Scrum practices, or a related technology
  • Making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in layered solutions and designs
  • Demonstrable experience in shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 100%
