Principal engineers play a critical role in our engineering organization. We believe in small teams aligned around functionally related services. We assist teams when they need extra capacity or are tackling particularly important or ambitious problems.

This role requires

тАв 10+ years demonstrated experience in Product Engineering building large-scale distributed systems
тАв 5+ years of experience with Java or a JVM based language
тАв 2+ years of experience with cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or hybrid cloud
тАв Strong operational experience, ideally in a 24×7 SaaS environment
тАв Proven experience mentoring other software engineers
тАв Knowledge of fundamentals required to build and operate highly-available software systems and data pipelines at scale including data structures, architectural patterns, distributed systems and supporting toolchains
тАв Strong interpersonal skills, communication and collaboration skills including the ability to seek consensus, provide technical leadership, lead by example, exhibiting patience and determination
тАв Ability to rapidly come up to speed on new teams and services to make decisive organizational and technical impact

Bonus points if you have

тАв Familiarity with diverse technologies including streaming technologies (i.e. Kafka, Flink), data technologies (i.e. Airflow, Snowflake), and application technologies (i.e. GraphQL, React, Ruby, JavaScript)
тАв Experience with observability tools and platforms (such as ours)
тАв Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
