The Informatics team at BD Biosciences (part of the Life Sciences segment of BD) has this mission: advance the world of health by empowering researchers with great software.

We are seeking an experienced engineer who is comfortable refactoring C++ and JavaScript code, and who can make carefully considered architecture decisions to hasten cloud delivery of our tools. If you can learn quickly, balance independent work with a highly communicative and collaborative team process, and think big without missing the details, then you may be our ideal candidate.

**Job Responsibilities:**

+ Work with stakeholders, plus engineers across the full stack, to understand our existing architecture and the direction our products are going.

+ Work with stakeholders to determine and refine functional and non-functional requirements as necessary, interpret those to create engineering specifications.

+ Create and maintain appropriate developer documentation and appropriate test coverage.

+ Take ownership and work with other stakeholders and the rest of the team to develop a scalable cloud architecture for our informatics tools, with attention to feasibility, performance, system integration, and maintainability of the solution.

+ Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply those as appropriate.

**Essential Qualifications:**

+ BS in computer science, engineering, or relevant field.

+ 10+ years of demonstrable experience building cloud applications and services for multiple cloud platforms.

+ Understanding and experience with C++, JavaScript, and relevant ecosystems.

+ Understanding of cross-platform challenges that arise with C++, and how to overcome them.

+ Experience developing and using REST APIs and/or GraphQL APIs.

+ Experience working with Jest or a similar testing framework.

+ Fluent with git, bash and Unix-based systems.

+ Experience working in CI/CD development pipelines

+ Experience working on development teams with multiple software engineers. Collaborative team player and great culture fit who strives to assist and unblock peers, participates in code reviews, and suggests improvements to designs, requirements, and processes.

+ A technical mindset with great attention to detail.

+ Strong passion for problem solving, continuously learning, adapting, and taking initiative in a rapid-paced Agile environment.
