What you’ll be doing…

As an API Developer Relations, you will help with the adoption of an API-first approach in Verizon. Educating business product managers to helping with monetization models and what APIs to expose are areas that this position will cover. Bringing an external perspective to inform the API team on best practices is another key aspect of the role.

* Mentoring and coaching the organization on API-first best practices and skills.
* Building and driving the marketing and education activities around Verizon’s open-source engagements and products.
* Engaging with developers and participating in developer forums; Creating samples, guides, tutorials, and blogs to ensure an excellent experience, both for internal and external developers.
* Working closely with partners and API/open-source communities, such as CNCF, GraphQL Foundation, to coordinate marketing collateral and initiatives.
* Acting as the voice of developers and Verizon’s customers in creating and operationalizing world-class, API-centric SaaS platforms.
* Helping improve our products by creating and managing feedback loops regarding API design, platform usability, and functionality.
* Participating in and growing the communities around Verizon’s involvement in industry standards and open source.
* Building strong cross-functional partnerships at multiple levels within the company, including commercial, engineering, marketing, sales, and services.
* Marketing and business acumen to understand and promote the value proposition of APIs to different stakeholders.
* Being a representative/speaker for your organization at conferences and internal seminars.

Where you’ll be working…

In this hybrid role, you’ll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

This position can sit out of any U.S. based Verizon work location.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

* Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
* Six or more years of relevant work experience.
* Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

* A degree in Master’s of Business Administration.
* Experience in theAPI space (e.g., as a developer), including in leadership roles. Strong technical knowledge of APIs and experience with various API technologies.
* An understanding of the developer ecosystem and experience working with developer communities.
* Good technical writing skills to produce clear and concise documentation and other materials that support API adoption.
* Good networking and relationship building skills to develop partnerships and promote API adoption within targeted groups (internal and external).
* Analytical skills to track and measure API usage and provide insights to inform strategies, business cases, etc.
